Forestry Statistics Pocketbook.
|

The Eurostat Forestry Statistics Pocketbook is now available online. The pocketbook presents updated information from the forestry sector in the European Union, the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), and candidate countries. It draws on information in a previous publication of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) with the provision of maps and additional information on forest resources by The Joint Research Centre (JRC). The ICP (International Co-operative Programme on Assessment and Monitoring of Air Pollution Effects on Forests operation under UNECE) are the authors on the chapter on forest condition.
The first section of the publication contains a general description of the forest sector under seven headings:- Forest Resources and Ownership, Economy, Employment, Energy, Forest condition, Mapping European Forests and Forest Fires. The second part of the handbook deals with the production and trade of wood and wood products and includes balance sheets.
The pocketbook may be accessed on the official site of the European Union at www.europa.eu.int and may be downloaded free of charge.
